About Roots & Tubers Wholesale
Roots and tubers are the carbohydrate backbone of Caribbean and Latin American cooking — and they're also the fastest-growing segment of the specialty produce market in the US. FoodStreamOS sources three core items direct from Caribbean farms: Cassava (Manioc), Caribbean Yellow Yam, and Malanga (Taro). All three are vacuum-packed or whole, shipped under cold chain, and imported through FDA-registered channels.
Cassava is the most versatile of the three — used in everything from traditional Haitian boiled cassava to cassava-based flour products, tapioca, and yuca fries. Caribbean Yellow Yam (from Jamaica) is a mealy, earthy yam distinct from American sweet potato — essential for West Indian and Haitian cooking and difficult to source fresh outside specialty distributors. Malanga (known as Taro in the broader market) is a dense, nutty root used across the Caribbean and increasingly in food service as a potato substitute.
All roots and tubers are sourced to order, not from warehouse inventory. This means you receive product at peak freshness rather than product that's been sitting. Minimum orders are sized for distributors, specialty grocers, and restaurant groups buying in case quantities. Submit a quote request for current pricing and availability by product.
